Duo with Dante Montoya, Flute
Dante Montoya, a distinguished Mexican flute player and teacher based in Germany, has garnered praise for his expressive tone and sensitive interpretations as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestra player. His artistic prowess is evidenced by numerous competition awards in Mexico and Germany, and scholarships from prestigious organizations including the Mexican Endowment for Culture and Arts, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Studienstiftung Saar Foundation, the Bruno-Elisabeth-Meindl-Foundation, and the Detmold Alumni Association.
Dante holds a teaching position at the University of Music Saarland in Germany and frequently conducts masterclasses at the National Conservatory of Music and the National Autonomous University in Mexico. His extensive touring has taken him to Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Colombia, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Iran, Macedonia, Mexico, Monaco, Portugal, and Switzerland. His performances have been recorded and broadcast by prominent German public broadcasters such as SWR, WDR, SR, Deutschlandfunk, and Radio Bremen.
His orchestral engagements include concerts with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra of SWR, the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the German Radio Philharmonic Saarbrücken-Kaiserslautern, the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the South Westphalia Philharmonic, and the Detmold Theater. Passionate about contemporary music, Dante is a member of Ensemble Horizonte, collaborating closely with composers to interpret and record new works. Additionally, he has a keen interest in performing Baroque music on period instruments.
Dante began his musical education at the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City under Professor María Esther García. He pursued further studies in Germany at the Music Universities in Detmold and Saarland with Professors Gaby Pas-van Riet and Hans-Jörg Wegner, earning Master’s degrees in Orchestral and Pedagogic Music, and completing the Konzertexamen with Honors, the highest academic distinction in German music education. He has also trained with renowned musicians such as Peter-Lukas Graf, Jacques Zoon, Paul Edmund-Davies, Emily Beynon, Andrea Lieberknecht, Renate Greiss, and Felix Renggli.
