Duo with Clemens Löschmann (Tenor)

The Tenor Clemens Löschmann was born in Berlin where he studied with Professor Johannes Hoefflin at the academy of music and participated in master classes with Aribert Reimann and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. He was awarded with scholarships from the Gotthardt-Schierse-Stiftung, the Komische Oper Berlin and the Richard-Wagner-Stiftung. He took part in numerous opera productions of several opera houses and opera companies including Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna and Zurich. Clemens Löschmann was engaged at the opera house in Bremen and has been working as a guest artist at internationally renowned opera houses including the Komische Oper Berlin, the Oper Frankfurt/Main, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genua and the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. Within the classic and contemporary oratorio and concert repertoire Clemens Löschmann is a soloist of great demand for all the major tenor roles of his type. The great evangelist and tenor parts of Bach’s oratorios and cantatas are central for his concert repertoire. Besides the classic lied repertoire Clemens Löschmann has dedicated himself to contemporary compositions within his recitals. Concert trips have taken him through several countries of Europe. He participated in numerous first performances as well as in many radio, television and CD productions. Clemens Löschmann holds a teaching assignment at the academy of music in Bremen.

Also in Dowland's "Come Haevy Sleep" accompanies Maximilian Mangold, competent and playful, Clemens Löschmann, who with his clear intonation and his slender, ingratiating tenor immediately sang in the hearts of the audience. At times his voice sounded clear and easy or rich in nuances in the piano, sometimes even effervescent. A concert that fits perfectly into the season, when the sun is lower and the shadows are longer. And the duo, which was not allowed to leave without an encore, expressed perfectly the emotions of this music.

Clemens Löschmann understood it excellently to top up the interpretation emotionally - with consistent text understanding. Already at the opening "Quiet pleading of my songs" from Schubert's "Schwanengesang" it became clear that the usual song accompaniment by piano is absolutely expendable and the guitar, especially if it is played so masterfully as by Maximilian Mangold, promotes the intimacy of music making. In a baroque environment completely new listening experiences became possible. Especially because Clemens Löschmann's wonderfully soft lyrical tenor in an amusing symbiosis with the historical stringed instrument called "Biedermeier guitar" (here a replica) turned the concert into an event.

The silvery sounds of the Biedermeier guitar forms a graceful contrast to the warm soft tenor of Clemens Löschmann. He impresses with his clearly and sensitively accented singing. The rare, but all the more charming duo of high male voice and guitar presented at the Hohenlohe Cultural Summer was a rightly acclaimed concert.
